UPDATED EDIT: Have NOT determined the "failure" point on my desktop system, but DO owe an Apology to the developer on this: Downloaded T-bird v150 on a Win11 Laptop, and Remove Dup Msg extension "immediately" showed up in T-bird upon requesting that it be added.
Desktop is STILL saying that the "file is corrupt" and refuses to add it.
Will need to do some more digging - simply installing T-bird over the existing installation did not change things.
SIgh. Moving Rating up to 4 Stars under Presumption that the extension Will Work on the laptop (it is clearly loaded, and shows up in the Menu system, but haven't tried to use it yet: Still no Emals on that machine!

1) DL'd directly as suggested. Received a file with a DIFFERENT NAME, but same size as previous DLs. 2) Attempting to "open" this new DL with T-Bird fails (worth a try when all else fails); 3) Loading the file from within T-Bird still produces "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt."
Running T-Bird v150, Win 11. No other know issues with system. Newly DL'd file is "removedupes_0.6.6_tbird.xpi"
Was able to install the Copernic Desktop Search extension to the same T-Bird instance. Will try temp defeating anti-virus as well as VPN, although neither has been a regular obstacle.

The file uploaded to this site is validated by the site, and not corrupt. Other users have downloaded and used it successfully. It could be a problem with the ATN servers, or with your internet connection.
While TB has made things difficult for me - those are not things that result in the situation of a "file is corrupt" situation.
I suggest you also try downloading the XPI from the release page on GitHub: https://github.com/eyalroz/removedupes/releases/tag/v0.6.6
Would be a significant time saver if the Remove Dups add-on worked. Alas, am unable to install with T-Bird v150, even though the 0.6.6 ver of Remove Dups is touted as compatible.
Clicking on the "Add To Thunderbird" button apparently does nothing, while downloading the ...6.6-tb.xpi file and trying to install from that produces a "File is Corrupt" notice.
Feel for the developer, as it seems that the T-bird team has made things Difficult for extensions. Even IF this got added to T-bird (as v0.6.4 was able to do) it is not clear that there would be any way to actually Access the extension, since even though v0.6.4 showed up in the list of installed extensions there seemed to be no means to actually activate it.
It seems "Cruel" to give RemDups a "1 star" rating when the problem running it could well belong to T-Bird itself. OTOH, it cannot get a "Passing" rating when it does not actually work. Will settle on 2 stars, primarily because v0.6.6 is SUPPOSED to be compatible with T-Bird 150, but in fact is not. : (

I delete the duplicates, but they still stay there....

Very useful. If you found that duplication not work. Go to add-on page, open Remove Duplicate Messages page, then open the config page, deselect some check criteria.

Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I have an inbox full of duplicate messages but it says "No duplicates found"

It works, but it is a bit tricky to start.
-First right click and "Set original message folder..."
-Then right click again and "Remove Duplicates"
- Then confirm message in box
-Then right click again and "Remove Duplicates" for the 2nd time
- Now the window will open were duplicates appear, and removal can be confirmed.

When I search for duplicates, the add-on finds many (X duplicates across various folders). If I then want to permanently delete all of them, the add-on asks whether to delete X duplicates from folder Y (Y being the folder of the first found duplicate). This question is misleading.
If I click “Yes,” Thunderbird shows the message “Z items deleted in folder Y” in the activity log – which is definitely too many items for that folder (not X, but clearly more than the actual number of duplicates in that folder).

If you right-click on a folder, the add-on does not search for duplicates in that folder. Instead, it always searches the last selected/active folder – which can lead to confusion or mistakes if you're not aware of this behavior.

Selecting duplicates is very impractical when you have many across different folders. It’s not possible to select multiple duplicate groups and, for example, apply "keep first" or "keep last" just to those selected groups – these options can only be applied to all found duplicate groups at once.
Because of that, the add-on is hardly usable if you have many folders and want to search across them flexibly.

Half mir schon öfter beim Aufräumen meiner IMAP-Folder. Leider bisher keine Version, die auch in TB138 läuft.

Super Tool, aber: funktioniert nicht mehr nach dem Update auf TB138.0

- der Eintrag im Kontextmenu (rechtsklick auf einen Ordner) verschwindet immer wieder

Eigentlich ein ganz wichtiges und segensreiches Tool. Wenn es denn funktionieren würde. Bei größeren Mailordnern oder auch über mehrere Stufen funktioniert es nur manchmal. Und manchmal funktioniert es nicht einmal in einem durchaus überschaubaren Ordner. Insofern gibt es zwei Sterne für die Idee, aber nicht mehr.

Additional menu, but nothing happens.
After some time the menu is starting to work and shows a "no duplicates found" - no matter what options and every message in the folder is there 3 times. Not worth your time.

Can this add-on find duplicate emails located in two email accounts?
I tried and it seemed not possible, after the try the add-on menu disappeared.

does need an update and bugfix.
the popup window that displays duplciated emails should be full width. there is alot of wasted space on the right hand side that could be used for displaying more info about duplciate emails.
finally there is a bug that with skip special folders unchecked,emails in all mail in gmail are not checked and I get not scanning special folders.
when it works its great, but these issues are highly iritating

This add-on used to work, but does not on 128.6.0esr (Linux)
It appears to go through he motions, but never finds duplicates, even though there are clearly duplicates in the list
