DownThemAll!

Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle

I believe this should be an integrated feature in every browser. It is an excellent tool and does away with the need for a separate download manager for most downloads.

However I see some room for improvement:

dTa OneClick uses the file name last used to download manually, so we end up overwriting the old download (unless we've moved, deleted or renamed it); worse still, we cannot find the file later as it has the name of the old file.

I prefer to rename my files during the download for an organised download, but some websites conform to my file name masks (so I do not need to manually rename them), so that's when I prefer dTa OneClick, but unfortunately cannot use it as it uses the last-used FILENAME.

Ideally, after ever download the file mask should be reset to *name*.*ext*; so dTa OneClick will do exactly as it should - DOWNLOAD IN ONE CLICK!

It still is one of the most productivity-enhancing tools for Firefox. I'm grateful to the developer(s)

Thanks.

Zotero

Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle

I had always been finding ways to catalog my references. I found EndNote to be over-rated as it did not provide all the functionality I would expect.

Enter 'Zotero'! On recommendation from a colleague I expected this to fall short of my expectations as well (especially after my experience with an expensive program like EndNote).

I have to admit that it has exceeded all of my expectations... coming from a Mozilla add-on, I was truly shocked.

PDF (and more) attachments, web page snapshots, notes, tags, brilliant search capabilities, categorisation and my favourite - date of access (very useful for web-only references).

I am however having difficulty in installing XPDF (PDF2TEXT) which claims to search inside PDF attachments. It could be due to my OS (XP x64) but if it can be installed, it will make the best even better.

BEST OF ALL... IT'S FREE! AND BEATS THE $%#T OUT OF ENDNOTE!
