I love this extension! Can you please add FF Quantum support? Will make it 5 Stars when it is updated.

It works; I use it for click bait and webholes.
It's not user friendly, but the City of Champs guide mentioned below explains the principles.
I combine it with a couple of app lockers for default browsers to avoid circumvention.

I used this guys how to guide. https://champtown.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/using-silent-block-on-android/
Make sure you go into your permissions for Fire Fox and enable the storage permission. This was the one trick I found in someone else's comments here. At first it didn't work. Once I gave fire fox permission to access storage it worked.
You can also do this on a mac, I did. Use Android File Transfer to plug your phone in and add files. Just look up how to make a .txt file using text editor.

I rely on this app. The 1 star review about not having a sample is totally absurd. It's free. It's not that complicated if you've ever owned a computer and understand how a file explorer works. The developer created something useful for the community and that's beautiful! Thank you Schuzak!

You could write a SINGLE EXAMPLE of regular expression which would explain more that those 2 articles which give almost no clue.

Best addon to ban range of sites with subdomains, even entire upper domain
My example of contentblock-regex.txt:
^https?:\/\/(.+?\.)?(\w{2,60}\.)+(ru|su|рф)
^https?:\/\/(.+?\.)?vk\.com

Great add-on. To install go to your profile folder:
C:\Users\*Your username*\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yljsxfn1.default\ and then create the 'contentblock-regex.txt' inside this.

The only thing missing is hint how large regexp can be before slowdown will become problematic.
I would donate, but I see no obvious way to do that.

Thanks Schuzak, this is exactly what I was looking for!
I found documentation / examples here:
http://www.schuzak.jp/fx/silentblock.html
If you're using an alt directory for configuration files (you can do this by setting extensions.silentblock.altdir, and you might have to do this if you don't have a rooted device), you will need to enable the "Storage" permission for Firefox. Otherwise, silentblock will not be able to read the configuration files on startup.

I understand the concept... and am happy with the restart on update... but it would be nice to provide one example on what the .txt files should look like; e.g. is it one regex per line or comma separated, or... apart from that, it's great :)

Definitely the most useful add-on for me. I would not recommend it to someone who has never heard about JavaScript regular expressions, but for people who did, definitely a +1. Replaces obscure DNS hacks I tried to do before.

Very good.
This add-on forced me to learn new things, but it was worth the effort!
SilentBlock and NoScript: That's all I need.
Thank you very much, Schuzak

This is a powerful addon, but requires knowledge of regular expressions. You need to be able to write appropriate matching patterns, although there are some samples in the author's web site. If you are not comfortable with regex, better go to another addon.

Hi,
This is an excellent add-on and has worked really well, but I'm having trouble writing a RegEx pattern match for
google.com/+
It's the last two characters I'm having trouble with.
I'm fairly new to RegEx so any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I think I've found the solution:
[Gg][Oo][Oo][Gg][Ll][Ee]\.[Cc][Oo][Mm]/\+
I didn't want it case sensitive hence the reason for [].
Does this appear to be correct to you, it seems to work for me.

Attempting to migrate to this from Karma Blocker (which I love) because of the Android compatibility. The basic functionality is there, but it's somewhat painful to have to restart the browser just to reload the regex file, or even to enable/disable the extension. Still, it's great to have something that works on Android. Thanks.

From when I first set up XP SP3 + a number of other updates and until the last few days I would constantly be getting crashes in Firefox and Pegasus Mail, curiously enough, web intensive or dependent applications.I had suspected hardware (disk, memory, motherboard etc.) problems but that was not it. At the same time my firewall (KPF 2.1.5, old but trusty and light) would constantly ask me if I would allow the OS to connect to several akamai 'deploy' servers (which I would always deny) and it occured to me that the problem could be related to that. KPF only accepts IP numbers so I'd have to add another one to the already very long list of akamai IP server numbers every week or so.But the crashes would not cease. In comes 'Silent Block' ...All I had to do is add akamai to the list and that was the end of the crashes, at least for now.I'm crossing my fingers but up to now it's been three days without a Firefox or Pegasus Mail crash.Kudos for the developer. And thanks for publishing it. =-)
EDIT:
Cried victory too soon ... =-/
My firewall log says that my PC connects to xxxx. deploy.akamailtechnologies.com:https.
I have tried using "*. deploy.akamailtechnologies.com" and "*deploy.akamailtechnologies.com" but the Firefox Error Console says there's a syntax error.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Solved in email.

Unless your phone is rooted you can't access your profile folder. Get around this by changing the setting in about:config. Better documentation would be good. I copied the regex format from the example from the author's web site.

Finally a way to get rid of those intrusive facebook- and twitter- widgets that are scattered all over the net nowadays. Works like a charm on my android tablet.
