Detailed Description of Add-on
Indian Language Transliterator (developed at IIIT Hyderabad, India) is a Mozilla Thunderbird Add-on, developed to enable Thunderbird users to compose and send messages in 10 Regional Indian Languages, using their regular QWERTY keyboard!!!
Use these character mapping files as the basis, for entering QWERTY input to get transliterated text in your desired language.
Input is case insensitive.
The user can use the angular brackets ("<" and ">") if he/she doesn't want to translate the input to the specified language.
For example, if the input is " < good morn. > aapa kaise ho ", then the output is " good morn. आप कैसे हो ".
Note: Input should be given in the way one spell's a word.
What is Transliteration?
Transliteration is the process of converting a word written in one language into another language, in a systematic way, using a mapping scheme.
For example, if we need to compose the message "తిరుమల తిరుపతి ఆంద్రులకు పవిత్ర పుణ్యా క్షేత్రము" (Unicode i.e., UTF-8 representation), we type "tirumala tirupati aan:drulaku pavitra pund~yaa kshheitramu" (IT3 representation) and select 'Telugu' as the language for transliteration.
