Hi CybTekSol, I'm definitely interested in keeping this extension alive. Thank you so much for all your work. And thanks to Theodore for everything!

To ALL that responded:

The latest revision of Xpunge Custom Revival is 5.1.0... it has been tested and works beautifully. I still have not had any response from Theodore so I am considering a TOTAL rewrite of the extension to post here (with a new name, icons, etc.).

Please comment if you are interested in a new version and I will do my best to make it a reality since it appears Theodore is no longer interested.

Sincerely,
CybTekSol

Hi CybTekSol,

I agree with BY-Joe. This extension should be built into Thunderbird. If you have something to offer others, it would be appreciated.

Hi CybTekSol,

It was great to read that you successfully updated implementation.js and manifest.json for the current version of Thunderbird (Xpunge Custom Revival 5.03). I’ve been using Xpunge myself for ages and was also frustrated that it stopped working.

Could you post a link to your version—for example, as a GitHub Gist, a GitHub repo, or via a file hosting service (like Dropbox, Mega, etc.)? Ideally the complete .xpi file, though the two modified files would suffice if necessary.

Thanks in advance for the effort and for keeping the extension alive!

seems the bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1977840) is being RESOLVED INVALID now and since then, nothing further was happened. What's now, do you have discontinued this Addon now, or do you working on this special event Listener? BTW: with the good old POP3 there are no issues and I'm on TB 140.10.1esr (64-Bit) flatpak (Ubuntu 24.04.* LTS)

I'm currently stuck on Thunderbird 139 because the Xpunge add‑on no longer works with newer TB versions, and it’s essential for me. According to the add‑on page, Xpunge is broken on TB 140+ due to Bug 1977840, and I'm wondering whether the workaround mentioned in comment #13 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1977840#c13) of that Bugzilla ticket might allow Xpunge to be re‑enabled for newer Thunderbird versions. If not, what alternatives exist that can empty all trash/junk folders and compact all folders across accounts with a single action?

Just to get this add-on back, I reverted from TB 148 to 139.
With 139, there might be more security threats, but so in WIN10, but I'm staying with these. :)

BTW, In 139, I also got back LookOut (fix version). It's a win-win.

And, I donated the Author. This app is so awesome. The coders need to get some food on the table, too. And a cup of coffee. So donate. Don't just take advantage of someone else's work.

This is a very useful plugin for those of us who have multiple mail accounts in Thunderbird and like to keep the folders compacted. I would say I used to use it more than any other TB plugin. However, it has been broken since TB 140 by a problem in the TB code itself. Apparently, one developer identified the likely issue, but, as far as I can tell, there has been no effort to fix it. I hope this can get some attention. I would even advocate putting this function into TB itself.

One of the best add-ons now dead in the water because Mozilla broke the interface, when will it be fixed and an update done?

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1977840 has been closed with a "workaround". Any chance to be implemented?

One of the best add-on... Now it's dead... Waiting for a resurrection...

Esperando con ansias la actualización de este complemento, para mi es un indispensable de TB

Hope this add-on is fixed soon. TB dropped the ball not featuring what Xpunge does. Thanks, Mr. Tegos.

This is a "must have" Addon! Give them the time to make it compatible again! <3

This extension was working very well until I updated TB to version 140.0. Please update it so that it works with that version+ Thanks.

Xpunge is not compatible with TB 140.0, because TB 140 has a bug that has broken some of the functionality of MultiXpunge.

After this bug is fixed in TB, I will need to do more tests to see if there are any other issues.

The add-on works but it is VERY slow compared to previous versions (for TB 115 and lower). It seems to "visit" every folder in an account instead of just working on "trash" and "junk."

Can you please use the "Support E-mail" and send me an email, so we can look into this issue together with more information/details?

Thunderbird 136 breaks add-on.

Thanks for reporting this.

This is on the Desktop Release channel (not the ESR channel), which is now the default TB download. Thunderbird 136 is the latest release there.

See https://github.com/theodore-tegos/xpunge-tb/issues/15 for more information.
