The 1950 live mono recording of Der Ring des Nibelungen, the cycle of four operas composed by Richard Wagner. Wilhelm Furtwängler, perhaps the greatest of all Wagnerian conductors, leads the orchestra and chorus of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Some roles were performed by different singers in different operas, but consistent overall is the incomparable Wagnerian soprano Kirsten Flagstad as Brünhilde, whose presence alone makes this one of the greatest Ring Cycles of all time in my book.
