Use Protonmail- Does what it says which is really useful since Protonmail does the same thing with using folders.
Two feature requests:
1. Column information- so that labels can show in main view in a column.
2. A setting to ignore the first "x" number of folders in the name. Protonmail for example puts all "Label" folders into a folder called "Labels". So all tags currently show "Labels/Registrations" for example. Would love to be able to append how it's being viewed.

Works immediately, no prob with that.
Would be nice if we could have the option to also show the labels in the lists of emails, just as in gmail.

I just installed Thunderbird flatpak and connected it to my gmail account. I installed this addon hoping to see the categories I can see in the online version. I could not see the gmail categories, tabs and labels anywhere. The email presentation looked the same as it did before I installed and activated the extension.

Bylo by velmi užitečné, kdyby se štítky Gmailu daly i editovat - přiřadit, odebrat, apod....
Jenom zobrazení mi nestačí.

I haven't seen this working yet.
It's not clear where you are getting the labels. I use gmail and carddav to keep my google contacts replicated in thunderbird. So the labels from gmail (and the color) are all in the address book.
I also saw someone ask if some labels like 'all' and 'unread' etc can be omitted to make the list short.
Looks like you got a good thing going.
Thanks.

Great addition to see where which folders emails are filed in. Would it be possible to add the "account" emails are connected with. As i use Thunderbird to aggregate my emails would be useful to "label" which account a particular email is connected with. Thanks

It would be helpful if the add-on only shows tags in GMail boxes (or only in selected mailboxes), since I have tags (or rather IMAP folder names) shown for all mail providers.

I love it. I use gmail filtering but I hate the web interface, so this extension serve the exact purpose of filling the gap.
A suggestion. It would be nice to see the labels before opening the message. Maybe, inline with the subject as gmail does OR in a separate column, so messages could be sorted. I am not sure how hard would it be to implement.

I was looking for a way of seeing which Gmail labels are attached to an email and this seems to do the trick albeit with a delay when focusing on a particular email. It would be nice for the label colours to mirror those set in Gmail itself, but I'm assuming the labels are derived by looking into the IMAP folder structure rather than by getting anything directly from the Gmail server itself.

New to Thunderbird and just downloaded this extension. I have a feature suggestion -- can you add the ability to filter some labels out? Most of my messages have these gmail tags which are uninformative and take up header space:
INBOX
[Gmail]/All Mail
[Gmail]/Important

This + color-tagging the labelled mails would be outright fantastic! For example Fastmail is offering the same concept: https://www.fastmail.com/blog/fastmail-labels/
There's maybe a way to automatically create and apply the necessary tags, to mimick Gmail/Fastmail's Labels behaviour..! Could you please generalise the Labels add-on for other accounts too?
Thanks for your review! This extension does not allow adding own tags, it only reflects the tags already set in Gmail.
There is a generic tagging functionality built into Thunderbird: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/message-tags, maybe you are looking for that?

Adding support for GMail Labels to Thunderbird offers a useful benefit to anybody that has set up rules on the Google account side, rather than in Thunderbird. It is very useful to be able to confirm the expected labels are attached.
The only significant usability issue that I have come across so far, is that you only see all of an e-mail's labels if you have gone into a folder to open the e-mail. If you access it directly from the Inbox initially, you will only see the Inbox label, suggesting the message has no other labels attached. So you have to be aware that an e-mail may correctly have the labels you expect, but you have to open it at least once from one of the (label) folders before they will show up.
Only other feature I would like to see, is labels being presented in the label colours set in the Google account.
Other than that, it does exactly what it says on the tin, quickly, and without fuss.
Thank you for your review. As for the issue of missing labels when you open a message directly, that's because labels are not part of a message, they are associated with the folders in Thunderbird that contain copies of the message. So until your Thunderbird refreshes all folders, the information about labels will be incomplete.

Really simple but useful. Has low overhead, and just gets the job done. Thanks!

Extremely helpful extension, even when not using Gmail.
It would be nice if it were possible to remove a label...

I've been hoping for an extension which shows Gmail labels forever and was so glad to find it. It works well.
It would be nice if it either used the label colours from Gmail (if possible) or allowed the colours to be selected in the extension's options.
The only issue I've found is that it doesn't work with the Thunderbird Conversations extension, but I'm not sure if this is possible.
Otherwise, well done!
Thanks for taking the time to review it! I think Thunderbird Conversations renders messages differently, so my plugin will not work (or will show labels only for the first message).
I will add the color configuration to the to-do list.
I'm glad you find it useful nonetheless :).
