MailHops

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

EDIT - Thanks so much for the new option in a later version of v.3 to hide the toolbar when using CompactHeader! That was primarily what bugged me about MailHops 3. This is the 2nd time the dev has been responsive to a problem I had with the extension - very impressive! Back to 5 stars as a result ;)

Previous review:

I’ve been using MailHops for as long as I can remember and find it very useful and generally well-done. But, like the previous review from flagpole, I found the new toolbar to be too much “in your face”. It also has a dark font on a dark background for me, not sure why as the screenshots show a white font.

I use the CompactHeader extension, which worked fine with MailHops. If I wanted to see the full headers including MailHops, all I had to do is double-click the header or click its little + icon.

Nevertheless, I reverted back to v.2 of MailHops as the toolbar just made trying to read emails, especially the subject line, rather too difficult with this glaring dark toolbar immediately below it. I also don’t need the toolbar for every single email I get, I only need it when I want to check a particular email, which isn’t often enough to warrant having the toolbar show all the time. Perhaps there could be an option to not show the toolbar and to revert to how it was in earlier versions (or, if using CompactHeader) to only showing it when clicking the little + icon)?

MailHops

This is a very useful extension, which I’ve had since I first moved to TB several years ago. It also saves you having to separately view the message source in order to see the message headers, which it lays out in an easily readable format (unlike the message source).

However, this latest update seems to have changed something in the text entry boxes for search, quick filter and other similar boxes where you enter text. Eg, the search box for Search has shrunk in height, the Quick Filter box has shrunk in width but is bigger in height; in both, the cursor is now glued to the icon of the magnifying glass, so that the first letter typed has no space between it and the icon. If I disable MailHops, it returns to normal. This is in TB 38.7.2 on Mac.

I tried to get to the Support page listed here but couldn’t as it timed out...

Edit: Thanks so much, Andrew, for your very fast response! The new version fixes this problem for me :-)

ResetRec

This is exactly what I was hoping to find... something that can, in one fell swoop, delete all email addresses in the To, CC or BCC rows when I use “Edit as New” for an email I've previously sent to many recipients but where I want to remove their addresses. Without this extension, Thunderbird will only let you delete recipient email addresses one by one... if there are a lot of them, this is a tortuous time-consuming effort. With this extension, just click the button and, poof, they’ve all gone in one go! Brilliant!

[Using TB 38.6 on Mac OS X 10.10, with tons of other extensions]

CuteButtons

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Cute Buttons for as long as I can remember, I love buttons and these really help.

Unfortunately, this version 0.4.5 doesn't work for me on my Mac in either Firefox (v.42) or Thunderbird (v.38.5). Also, in FF, it somehow replaced at least two of my buttons from Toolbar Buttons. Reverting to Cute Buttons 0.4.0 obviously makes it work for me again (I'd already previously fixed the signing override in about:config).

I'm not going to down-star the extension as I've never before had a bug with it and this is the first time in years it's not worked. I'm guessing (and hoping!) the dev will find a way to fix it :)

Search as list

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent and much needed add-on. But... I have a similar problem to oscerl. I'd like to save "Show Columns" in the preferences - except there's no "Save" or"Cancel" buttons… so I can't save it. I also can't save the column layout using the "Apply columns to" as described, because the button for "Search List" isn't sitting properly; I can only choose "Folder" or "Folder and its children".

On Mac OS 10.8.

Edit following psoebr's reply:
Brilliant! Works perfectly for me now :) Thanks so much for such a rapid fix.

Rise of the Tools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Using version 1.0.1.0 on a Mac (Lion) with the default theme, it's given me back my 2nd toolbar where TB 11 had caused the dreaded text next to icon instead of below it. The main default toolbar is a paler colour than my 2nd toolbar or the tab bar, but I don't care if tabs are back where they should be and my 2nd toolbar has text below icons. Thanks so much for this!

Manually sort folders

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I was delighted to find this as it's just so useful. But, sadly, it doesn't work with a Global inbox. It worked fine until I switched to a Global inbox. After that, TB would hang and be "not responding" every other (2nd) time I started or restarted it, leaving me with no option but to kill the process in order to close and restart TB. As the support site's not had any replies to queries for 3 months, I'm wondering if the dev is still maintaining the extension? If he is, I do hope he can fix this please.
