Review for FlashGot Mass Downloader by Anonymous user b53439
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This mass downloader is the best of there is. Reasons being it is able to download files from a lot of streaming sites. It also has the ability to download videos and music. I think it can mass download photos, but I haven't found a working solution for it.
I will say be aware of the log it creates. What is in that log is a lot of your private information that you may or may not want any eyes other than your own seeing. Not promoting any wrong doing here, but anything you do on the internet can be tracked. That being said if you are interested in how this application tracks you there is the option to view the log. Go to FlashGot Options by right clicking on the application then go to the Advanced tab. Now click on Show Log. In there you will see the log of when you installed the application and every thing you have downloaded, where you downloaded from, what other apps you had installed and running at the time, and the file names/paths in which you saved the file as. Of course this log can be turned off if you would like, but it is still very interesting to see what the app is tracking about your internet usage. I'm sure this was feature was implemented to make the app "better" and to see what sites and other apps are being used. With that in mind it is still important to protect what information you are allowing to be sent and submitted to this log.
I thought this information would be useful considering on a lot of applications I see reviews about data integrity, security, and data privacy. I'm letting the users of this app know that this app does in fact track you and the information is there for you to see. Good thing there is a way to turn the feature off.
I still give this app the 5 stars it deserves because it honestly works and I use a Mac computer and Safari 90% of the time. When I find a video on a site for example youtube and I want to save that video I use Firefox and this application exclusively because I know this is the go to app to get it done. No need to go to a website and hope the download works and hope you get the full resolution you want or need. This app has everything you need built into it. Simply right click on the icon and you have a different number of video and audio formats in which you can download. I just downloaded a 360 video from YouTube with this app successfully in 4K, which was not able to download on YouTube Downloader Websites simply because it had music in the video. This error made no sense to me, thankfully FlashGot was able to download it in multiple formats so I got a copy of the video in 4K and 720p.
