I just fell in love with email again thanks to Monterail.
After struggling with Evolution and Mailspring, to get it looking even usable, with my eyesight after cataract surgery, I gave up.
Thunderbird has always been my catch-all, but I couldn't stand to look at it. Ater my eye surgery, light themes have irked me, and ones they call dark, such as TB's darktheme, is not dark enough for me.
Then I discovered Full Dark, and it transformed my mail experience. I am using Thunderbird 91.
Thank you. I will have a donation for you very soon.

Best dark mode i have ever seen

I retract my first review but I still uninstalled it. It was interfering with my messages folder by adding a dark color every other lines. But for "normal" use, I guess it's fine.
Hi,
There aren't known bugs with this Thunderbird version. Did you try to reinstall the theme?

I've always loved this theme and held off updating Thunderbird for a long time, still using a rather old version until today I decided to check back and sure enough there was an update that said support for 78.* so I updated, however this does not support 78.14.0. Any chance of an update for the latest anytime in the near future? I am so used to this theme it's difficult to navigate visually through Thunderbird with the new native "Dark" mode in 78.
***Update. It turns out that if you update to 78 it will then give you the option to update to the next major release of 91 where the theme then works again just fine. Thank you!
Hi tbutton,
Thank you for your update, I'll write that on the FAQ

I agree with 314aeb. The context menu's when right clicking are only readable when you drag the mouse over the item. The other issue is that the message itself has not been formatted for this theme and is still in bright white. Good effort.
Hi bkarlan,
To resolve the problem with context menu, you need to update Thunderbird to v91. (See here: https://github.com/conema/monterail-fulldark/issues/76 )
You can edit the message bg and text color directlly with the TB settings

Great theme! Thanks for the code!
Just a quite annoying bug: in Dark theme, the text of the contextual menu (on right-click) is white on a light gray background and thus unreadable. Also, when I want to move a message to a folder through the "Move to" action in the contextual menu, the folders name is not highlighted when I with my arrows up and down (making it difficult to know which folder I am selecting…). This makes the theme a bit hard to use sometimes or needs me to specify more the folder I'm looking for.
As for the Light theme (that I have tried as an alternative, although I was looking for the Dark one), I cannot see the grouped conversation icon and thus identify if the email has an associated thread…
Is there any fix planned for these issues? Any workaround?
I'm still using the theme because I find the interface waaaay better than Thunderbird's one, but feel a bit frustrated by these pain points!
Looking forward to a fix! Many thanks again!
Hi! You can open an issue on github, so we can discuss about that

looks great but the contrast is too much, a more grey font will look better, also for the plain text window-bg....cheers*

Looks amazing Thank you for your help below!!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.3).Hi webprod,
As you can see from the screenshots, this is the expected behaviour. If you want, you can change the light grey color (and all the other colors) by editing the root.css file here:
https://github.com/conema/monterail-fulldark/blob/d1c8e3f3e2a6d7bcb477327623311f05cc2b0ad2/content/skin/root.css#L28-L67

Thank you for the great extension.
It would be even better if there was an option to adjust the spacing of the icons in the toolbar to be narrower. Please support this if possible.

Exactly what I was looking for, looks great and very happy to be able to alter the height of the lines in the email list.

Great theme, works perfectly. Message list height can be set in the options which I really like.

Does what Thunderbird has always failed to do, that being bring the UI out of the dark ages. Fantastic look, no issues at all.

Hi
I saw in a previous review by "Pref" that a user can edit the CSS of this theme to change it, but I couldn't find chrome/MonterailOverlay/css/root.css on Windows 10, is it in a different place? :/
Edit: Great, thank you. But there isn't a class for unread messages, unless I'm missing it?
Hi MisterM2020,
You can find the root.css file into the theme xpi/zip: "/content/skin/root.css". The xpi/zip is located in "\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<random numbers and letters>.default-release\extensions" and can be opened with any zip tool. If you need more support, feel free to open an issue on github: https://github.com/conema/monterail-fulldark/issues

Nice, however, I find the font type used not that good:
there is only a slight difference between bold (unread) messages and the other. Therefore it makes it less convenient to use on a daily basis. There could be simply:
1. the option to change the font type, or make 'unread' x-bold;
2. or a chance to tweak it on user's own. Could the author give the hint where exactly, in which file is the font type declared?
It is the only reason I give 4*, otherwise it is a very nice piece of work, thank you for that.
Edit: man, I am giving 5*, thank you! :))) I was blind not to look at skin folder. :) Now it is extremely customizable. :)
Hi Pref, feel free to open an issue on GitHub every time that you want some additional customization (https://github.com/conema/monterail-fulldark/issues).
You can tweak the font by editing the file "chrome/MonterailOverlay/css/root.css" (from row 5 to 8).

How do I change the font? This one sucks. It is illegible and the numbers are a drama.
