This has potential, but the selection dialogue is clumsy and if you have more than 3 identities you have to scroll to see them.

Identity Chooser is a much more realized add-on, and there is nothing here to make one change.

Keep working on this because it has potential.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.0).

Hey, thanks for your review!

I agree that the popup window is rather clumsy at the moment. Personally, I value identities being clearly organized by account. That's why I initially opted for two small lists. Then again, I also value selecting the correct identity with as little clicks as possible and I recognize that that is far from being the case, right now. That's why I am in the process of overhauling the popup interface.

The next version's popup will look much like Thunderbird's own identity dropdown box of its compose window, but shown as a large list. Above it, it will show less prominent filter options (like a search field and an account selection dropdown box), to give more room for the actual identities list and to minimize the need to scroll.

However, whichever way you look at it, if you have enough identities, there will ultimately always be a necessity to scroll, for the popup to maintain reasonable dimensions.

I think I will also give people the option to either keep showing a confirm button (for the more cautious people, like myself) or be able to immediately select the identity when clicking on it, without having to confirm with an extra click.

I actually considered contributing to Identity Chooser, as I think its an excellent add-on. But I figured writing my own was easier than communicating back and forth with its maintainer and amending their code base with my additional ideas.

The things that set this add-on apart from Identity Chooser, though, is that it warns you about missing identities and/or identities belonging to different accounts, allows you to reopen the popup, and now also allows you to choose at what moment you want the popup to appear.
