The links to Richard Jones don't work. The extension doesn't work. Is there any way to remove this extension?

Doesn't work anymore, sorry.

Doesn't work and hasn't been updated since 2011. This add-on has been abandoned. Avoid it. It does not work.

Same here: if it doesn't work, please remove it. It not a good advertisement.

This add-on doesn't work - if it's no longer supported, it should be withdrawn.
And the third-party tool doesn't work in my version of Firefox either (Waterfox 18).

This update, now commercial, but free, works really well. I hope to get a Chrome version soon. Keep up the good work.

No buttons or anything showing up. Would have surprised me if it worked, Google changed their stuff a lot since the last update off the plugin.

(Also) not working... using FF 6.0.2 and penango 1.8.8, the icons do not show in gmail. There's no sign that penango is "active". Too bad the FAQ of penango does not discuss technical support... Also the documentation is quite empty since it's just supposed to work. Maybe I'm missing a prerequisite ? I could not find a contact for technical question (only a form for sales and partnership questions), so I'm left with writing a bad review for what I'm sure is a good app ...

According to the screen shot, I would expect a little lock icon with options. I don't see it so I can't encrypt anything. I'm on FF 4. :(

Hello,
I use gmail smime for years to decrypt mails. From the beginning of 2011 gmail smime doesn't work anymore and doesn't decrypt mail without notice. I tried to debug this problem and found that it was a problem of cookie.
In fact the function getHead(), line 51 of gmailsmimeviewer.js, does not send the GX cookie in the request, and gets a 302 "moved temporarily" error which is interpreted as a "text/html" contentype. as it is not the right contentype, the file is never decrypted.
This is due to the fact that the GX cookie is now requested to download attached file. It is not sent because it is in the .mail.google.com domain (with the leading dot).
I have not found any workaround to this, like deactivate SSL, and can't decrypt anymore messages. I don't understand why this problem was not raised before. This would be helpful to have a look at this. Thanks.

Sent signatures using this addon are marked as invalid. Tested with following receiver clients: Outlook Webmail, GMX Webmail. The "P7S Viewer" says, the given hash is invalid. Same problem using Penango 1.6.1 Also: Sometimes the email was sent encrypted, but only "sign" was selected. Used free certificate of TC TrustCenter GmbH. //EDIT: using Thunderbird, the signature is validated. So it's probably no bug, and only caused by the low publicity of my certificate's CA.

I love this addon! It's so easy to use. The most difficult thing to figure out for the average user is how to obtain and install certificates, but this is explained via the website. I've not used pop email for some years now, so this addon is a welcome find!
As Bruce Tindall pointed out in an earlier review, most people don't use Firefox Password Manager so when you're prompted for a password, try leaving it blank and in most cases this should work.

Great update to 0.5.0. No changelog. No infos. And - of course - still no signature verification:
„This version of Gmail S/MIME does not support digital signature verification.“
In the words of Butler James: „Same procedure than every year!“
This Add-on sucks!
Hello -x-,
Thank you for your comments. Please note that a changelog is included in the distribution package. The description has been updated to reflect the changes in 0.5.0. Digital signature verification is very complicated but we are building it in to the long-term successor to Gmail S/MIME. Thanks for your patience! Contact us using the contact links in the extension if you are interested in beta-testing it.

Very nice and useful extension.

I am using this awesome Gmail S/MIME extension since many years. Just install your S/Mime certificate into the Firefox Certificate Manager (Options -> Advanced -> Encryption -> View Certificates -> Your Certificates -> Import) and you are ready to send and receive encrypted messages. No need to use a standalone email program anymore...
If you are behind a proxy-server sending encrypted messages could be a problem because the add-on needs direct access to the SMTP server. But nevertheless 5-stars for the great work...

It can read encrypted e-mails well.
When I try to send e-mail with attachment it sends e-mail but ignores attachment. That's annoying. Is there any way to make it send e-mails with attachment properly?
