I've forked the code and made it work again for Thunderbird 52-60.

Bugmail 2.0 from https://github.com/fabricedesre/bugmail.git
After updating from SeaMonkey 2.27a1 to 2.31a1 the extension stops working (no more bugmail display when viewing a bugmail from bugzilla.mozilla.org). I'll try Colin Guthrie's version.
Here are my UA strings, build IDs, and CSIDs:
2.27a1: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 SeaMonkey/2.27a1 ID:20140214003001 c-c:1ce77c2f9bd0 m-c:d275eebfae04
2.31a1: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0 SeaMonkey/2.31a1 ID:20140723133406 c-c:acb745a4d796 m-c:d0f6259e8446
N.B.:
-- AMO gives contrary messages (about 1.6.1): "Works with SeaMonkey 2.0a1and later" and "Not available for SeaMonkey 2.31a1".
-- "Please do not post bug reports in reviews, see the support section"... of which there is none.
This was an excellent add-on… while it worked.

I like this addon a lot, but sadly, gecko 18 apparently changed cache infra or so and this addon doesn't work no more.

I like this addon a lot, thank you. Now I do have a suggestion, could you make it compatible with Firefox? I realize its a totally different model, but wouldn't it be cool if you could see if a bug is already marked as fixed when its being shown in the awesomebar?
I was just checking a few bug numbers from patches I had in my tree and wanted to see if they are fixed yet. If this addon supported Firefox, I wouldn't have to open the page each time.

Works with thunderbird-5.0-1.fc15 (when install.rdf is fixed as seen in https://gitorious.org/bugmail/bugmail).

Great productivity. Stable. Responsive Author.
However, just went for a spin with GMail Conversation View - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/54035/ - and bugmail doesn't interoperate with it. Per Protz "I'm [not using] the message reader, so the bugzilla helper is probably doing this stuff in the background, it's just that it's another part of the UI that's displayed, the one that has the bugzilla status bar is hidden. [Bugmail needs to] overlay in some other part, so that it actually shows up even when the conversation view is active. Plus, I'm interfering with the message load process, so he would probably have to take that into account"

I have installed it with tb 3.0.1 in the most recent version (1.6.1):
When opening a bugmail generated by our corporate bugzilla (Version 3.0.3) i see this additional frame on top of the bugmail but i don't get any status information.
Maybe it's because you have to be logged in to view a bug in our BZ installation.
I'm pretty sure that this extension is very useful and I'd like to have this describes feature available in my TB but as I have it now it's as useful as a dead brick in the basement.

Would love to see Jira support. Would be able to roll this out to quite a few of the users in my office.

This extension is great, however it would be awesome if it also included mantis support.

Newer version mailed to me by the maintainer works great. Plus, active maintainer! If you track bugs using Bugzilla, this is definitely handy.

Maybe it only works for the bugzilla site itself, but this extension seems to do nothing with the bugzilla emails here at work.

Great idea and well done. However, it does not handle other BZ installations well, should it? e.g. bugzilla.mozdev.org, and for BZ on my own server nothing appears at all in the header bar.
