Try to open a given message in Gmane using its Message-Id header and http://mid.gmane.org interface.
Obviously a message should have appeared on at least one mailing list that is monitored by Gmane.
This should come handy if you want to refer to a public discussion that you had in past: things you posted, things posted in reply, entire threads. Gmane web interface is very convenient.
