previous versions worked fine but the last one has bugs and finally not working (tested on 3 computers, cannot import its own files).
just use mozbackup to import/export your accounts:

Crashes when you want to import ... always ... just forget it!

Will successfully fail to import you account settings. Avoid, extremely frustrating.

This add-on doesn't work at all. I wasted a whole lot of time figuring that out.

Version 0.3.0 does not import any accounts, only export is working on ThunderBird 3.1.6 and ThunderBird 3.1.6 Portable

Genau was ich gesucht habe!
Macht alles was man braucht, und kein unnötiger "Firlefantz"

I am extremely disappointed that it does not work... I just wish someone could make a working version of this addon which is a must have for anyone. Please remove this addon from the mozilla addons official website, If the developer has no intention of continuing with the development of this addon.
NOTE: I WILL GIVE 5 STAR RATING AND CHANGE THIS REVIEW TO A GOOD ONE IF THE DEVELOPER MAKES THIS ADDON WORK

It has worked in my computer, for POP servers (several accounts), TB 3, WIN 7. At least it did import the files itself had exported.

In Linux we have the options in the "edit" menu but this add-on doesn't seem to be there, or anywhere else.

Has not worked for me once -- seems to easily become confused when you have multiple IMAP servers, multiple identities, multiple SMTP servers.

Tested 0.3.0 w/ TB 3.1.2. Did not see account just imported. Looked at prefs.js and found complete mess (settings of multiple accounts had been combined into newly imported account).

the function would be very cool - BUT it doesn't import anything. I tried different thunderbird versions, since the first 3.0 and every time I can only export but never import the setting.
If I choose "import", it asks about the import file. I select it an the push the button "weiter" but nothing happens. accountex asks again for the import file.
A view minutes ago I tried it on a blank XP system - I installed the current TB plus accountex - nothing.
It's a great pity.

This is really helpful.
I hope for a 3.0 version as well!

Dear friend thanks for your very useful add on. It would be very nice if you could release a new version for Thunderbird 3.0.
Thanks

A link to the reference to the XML structure of an account as help text should be welcome.
The reason is that some information in my account seams not to be coherent, this can come from invalid values in thunderbird account.
Accountex allows to make useful controls with a doc about the XML structure.

The plugin is quite interesting to replicate a set up, typically from desktop to laptop.
Unfortunately, I noticed some discrepancies:
1) SSL settings are not taken in account
2) for Google Apps accounts (yourdomain.tld), the user name is truncated (no domain)

I have to say that in any case, it is very useful!
