gContactSync
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This thing is powerful and flexible...and it has many options that may not be right for you. Sometimes, it's modes of operation can do scary things---you HAVE to read the instructions AND think before you do massive syncs. But once you get the settings right, this thing is pretty reliable and does a better job than the Zindus plug-in did.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.6).Zindus
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This plug in works well in most situations, but with large address books it can have some erratic behaviors. So far, it hasn't corrupted anything when it's failed, which is a great thing.
The tech support people are really good, great attitude, good communication, very helpful.
Highly recommend this for T'Bird or Eudora users.
Penelope
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I have been a dedicated Eudora user for 10 years on the PC. But the software was just too old and unreliable. So I converted -- 3 GB of attachments and 1 GB of mail files. Nothing is perfect, but the import went fine and did the right thing in 99% of the cases.
Eudora had some very nice UI features which aren't available in T-Bird/Penelope. Get over it: T-bird works and has very few fundamental flaws. I'm hopeful that the Penelope project is still making progress -- it's been 4 months since their last alpha release. But even if they stopped right where they are, the system is very usable and stable.
