Just the addon I was looking for. Unfortunately it doesn't always detect phone numbers properly, and the extension seems to be completely non-functional in Thunderbird. If the author could fix these two issues, it would be 5 star-worthy.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.2.1-signed).
