FOLLOW UP REVIEW ON MARCH 26
It's been a month since my first review and despite sending emails to the developer I've heard nothing on their plan to update the Opacus app to make it compatible with Thunderbird V78. Our company has been paying for and using the app for more than 4 years and we now have several paid licenses we cannot use.
Take a pass on this application until the developer has the courtesy to respond to customers who have already paid for the app but received nothing in return.

Great app until the Thunderbird 78 update. The developer has had a lot of time to update the app but now my entire sales team can no longer use the app we paid for to archive emails. The changes in version 78 were not a mystery so why the delay???
The simple solution is to roll Thunderbird back to Version 68 but that is no longer supported by the Thunderbird developers and will soon have security vulnerabilities. So our choice is no archiving across our entire sales team or run an unsupported version of Thunderbird. Neither are good options...

Hi, great plugin but it's not compatible with Thunderbird 78! Please update it. Thanks
The Thunderbird team have done sterling work in keeping Thunderbird up to date with Firefox, but it has meant a significant re-write of the add-on last year, and a full rewrite of every component in the add-on this year - almost no code from the original can be salvaged. That work is in progress, and we would just ask you to bear with us (note that even now some of the underlying APIs we need to recreate all the existing features are not readily available).
Thanks, Jon and the Opacus team.

Great but Thunderbird is now disabling this plugin as its legacy :((((
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4).I've uploaded a version that is compatible with version 63 and up. It should be available shortly to install into the current Thunderbird beta if you want to give it a try.

Trying it on Thunderbird (in Linux). Nothing happens. When I click on 'test connection', nothing happens. Is this thing still being developed?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.2).Thank you for your generous review. Please contact jon@opacus.co.uk for assistance.

Unfortunately I was not able to get the either the pro (with trial license) or the standard version to talk to the server properly. While things are fine up to and including searching for objects on the CRM, the actual archiving of emails does not work. Tested with SuiteCRM Version 7.2.2 (Sugar Version 6.5.20 (Build 1001)). Pity, would be a very helpful plugin.
[EDIT] After working to debug the issue with the developer, what finally resolved the issue was to upgrade from ubuntu LTS12 to LTS14 - the critical part was probably the php version. Now everything works as advertised (and fast) and I'm happy to give the plugin the full rating.
I'm sorry to hear you were unable to archive emails into your SuiteCRM system. However, connecting to any remote resource is a partnership between client and server, and it seems just a tiny bit unfair to leave a one star review of the client without indicating that all was done to eliminate possible problems with the server.
We would encourage any potential or active users of the extension who suffer similar issues to report them on the support forums.
Thanks,
Jon
[UPDATE] Many thanks to foobar for following up on the review
