This was my favourite etension and when firefox went Australis and broke it, I went over to the palemoon browser, where I've started maintaining a fork.

This may have worked at some time (probably around 2012 when it was last updated) but it does not work now. I tried following the flash screenshots, but it does not work in my computer.

Since SeaMonkey 2.33 appeared infoRSS stopped working. I don't know what to do.
It was an outstanding extension for years. Now the time has come... Farewell my dear friend!
Five stars on the tombstone.

Used the is for years and really enjoyed it, unfortunately on coming back to FFv36 no matter what I do I just can't get it to work at all any more. Is there any chance of an upgrade at all??

I held off any updates of Firefox for a long time after reading the comments and not getting it to work with FF29.
InfoRSS is THE crucial addon for me and I wouldn't want to use Firefox without it. Tons of options, highly customizable with filters, you name it inforss has it. Although that comes at the price of intuitive usage it's definitely the best RSS/Atom reader for firefox.
However after today's upgrade to FF31 I managed to get it to work after a lot of trial&error. The key thing is that you have to right-click a toolbar, select customize, and then drag that blue globe icon with a dot to a toolbar. It has no text associated so you can only identify it by the icon. Once dragged it will do nothing. You have to make sure that the infoRSS option "Display->Position" is not set to Statusbar but top or bottom. Then restart Firefox and the infoRSS-bar should be visible and the blue globe icon gone.
After that I disabled the toolbar again to which I added that icon, but that's optional.
All the errors about podcast location and what not are also gone after that restart.
I'm using it with the Add-on "Classic Theme Restorer" in case that it matters. Now the only thing that's a bit of annoying is the transparent or dark background of the infoRSS bar on Windows7. Only the background of new entries can be set to a custom color.

Did the developer abandon this add-on? Is there an alternative?
Edit: I've had some luck with downgrading to the older version then upgrading back to the latest, if anyone would like to try that to get it working again.

I have just upgraded to the latest Debian Testing, which includes Iceweasel 29.0.1. And InfoRSS has broken! I was using 1.4.1 but I have tried upgrading to 1.4.2.
It isn't the "status bar" issue -- I run Status4Evar *and* I have tried setting Top and Bottom -- no difference.
It **seems** like it is just not running. I can access the preferences (apart from an error message about "Podcast location" which goes away if you set Podcast saving off), and my feeds are set up, but there seems to be no activity. Nothing in the Report. I tried turning all the Debug options on but nothing appears, even in the console.

I've been holding back updating to v29 because of this extension: it won't work with FF v29.
I've tried what Didier suggested in other comments, to select another location to place it, but a JavaScript error don't allow that (Mac OSX Mountain Lion, FiFo v29.0.1)
I also have a Mac, could you send me the inforss.xml file , I will try to reproduce your config here.

I simply love it. Please make it Firefox 29 compatible again!
Firefox has no longer a status bar. If you start firefox with inforss, acknowledge all error popup if you have some, open the inforss preference panel, go to the headline area, and choose any location except status bar, save your change and restart. It should work.

It works, just you have to set the position in settings from Status bar to Top or Bottom.

Thanks for updating this excellent extension. It is so useful that I used it error and all. Now it is clean on Firefox 20 I kind of miss the interaction with the error pop up [joke!]. Easy to install and once configured to your taste the preferences carry over to new editions flawlessly. For new users you *do* have to configure it and it takes time to do so.

My change of color/background of text doesn't apply and some content of options window is squashed. Otherwise it looks intresting.
