I found a WORKAROUND in STANDARD Firefox that does however--
Start the selection ABOVE the table in a non-table area. Drag down to the end of desired cell in table. Control-C. Paste into MS Word or Excel 2003.
(for Firefox 3.0.11 with or without Table2Clipboard)
(not good for copying small part of a big table)

I get an error: invalid hash - possible file corruption
Firefox 3.03 on Linux Fedora 9.
