Of the Thunderbird addons for synching Gmail contacts, this is the best I have found so far, in terms of the amount of fields that are matched, as other programs only synch the default Thunderbird fields, without including some of the extra options that Google contact makes available.

Previously I was using Zindus. gContactSync seems to have a lot more integration with google's contacts though, in terms of additional fields not normally present in T-bird.I've only used it for a day so far, but am very happy with the way it works at present.

A great theme, both in the Firefox & Thunderbird versions.
In the latest Thunderbird, there is a slight glitch that the "filter these messages" box seems to float over other windows if the window its in is too small, but that's the only problem I've noticed with it.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
