SmartTemplate

I'd like to have an option in SmartTemplate that would remove the "blockquote" tag in the standard reply message. Some people don't like the indented format of the Thunderbird reply and the removal of the blockquote element would eliminate the indention as displayed by Thunderbird and as received by the recipient.

I don't like the way SmartTemplate formats the Time in the reply header. I am in US CST timezone. I get an email from someone also in US CST timezone but he uses Yahoo webmail with a web server in US PST timezone. His Yahoo webmail Sent Mail shows the message at 5:24 PM. Thunderbird shows the message in my Inbox as 5:24 PM. But when I reply, SmartTemplate formats the reply header Time as 3:24 PM. This is confusing since the reply header doesn't match mail on his Yahoo or in my Thunderbird. I added the %date_tz% so it shows in the reply header as 3:24 PM -0800. But this would be better if the time shown in the reply header matches the time in Thunderbird Inbox, so would be better if SmartTemplate had this as 5:24 PM -0600 (instead of 3:24 PM -0800) so it matches his email and my email. I'd prefer SmartTemplate to format the reply header using the same Time Zone that is displayed in Thunderbird, especially since I use %datelocal% which would appear to indicate it is the local date and time rather than the the remote mail server date and time. Also, I tested by disabling SmartTemplate and using the standard Thunderbird reply header and the date and time in the standard reply header match the date and time in the Thunderbird Inbox, the same result as I am requesting here. At least, offer an option for people who would prefer it this way if you don't want to change it for everyone as the standard. Thanks.

I like the extension. I would like to have an option for placing the cursor position within the template. Please add %cursor% or [cursor] as a field to indicate where the extension should position the cursor in the message.

This is a great extension. You might want to include on this page or in the help information an example HTML reply header for those that have difficulty with HTML.

Try the SmartTemplate extension. It has much of the same functionality and is customizable. It allows for customization of the Reply and Forward headers.
