Thunderbird's default functionality is critically deficient and functionally incomplete without the capabilities provided by the Nostalgy add-on. For long-term power users, Nostalgy is not an enhancement; it is a foundational, non-negotiable component of efficient email management. Without it, the user experience is severely degraded to the point of being functionally crippling.
The current product decision to omit Nostalgy's core features—folder switching, quick moving, and filing—reflects a significant blind spot in the core product strategy. This omission undermines Thunderbird's viability as a professional-grade email client, forcing dependency on a third-party patch for essential operations.
