You can try "Multiproxy Switch 1.22", with it Firefox can start up faster, as it was optimized for Firefox 3.

If you feel Multiproxy Switch can't work properly on Firefox 2.0.0.16, please uninstall this extension, and try to directly set it in Firefox options window, to verify if it's other problem.
