My Reviews

Provider for Google Calendar

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I have several events on my calendar that don't show up in Lightning! I'm not sure exactly what is different for these events from other ones that do sync, except that I am listed as an optional attendee.

Notifications don't appear. Indicator never changes state. If you check the box to start Thunderbird minimized, then you will never see Thunderbird again until you start it in safe mode and disable this add-on.

New release of this add-on fixed the hanging problem I have been having. Remember to use the PRIVATE XML google link...its the only one that would work for me.

gContactSync

New User -- So far so good with this as my Zindus replacement. But based on other reviews I made sure to delete all my contacts in Thunderbird before syncing.

Running Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity. Everything works as advertised except minimizing leaves the Thunderbird app sitting in the launcher. Closing the apps works great thought, TB dissapears but sticks around to give notifications and indicator updates. Very good add-on for those of us that make use of workspaces.

But when Thunderbird is restored, its menus are missing from the Unity Global menu. Running a fully updated Ubuntu 12.04.

Workaround was to reinstall thunderbird-globalmenu from syntapic.

Evernote Tab

Works as advertised. Nice to be able to see notes in the same app as email...especially on Ubuntu!

Thunderbird Conversations

I am intrigued by this add-on and will be keep an eye on it. But for now I have to disable it because I really need to use my AllMain label for searching (both manually and via search function). Am I right, or am I missing something?

Also missing is an easy way for me to label an email so it goes to the correct gmail folder. Without I still have to have all my gmail accounts open in the tree anyway. At which point, this add-on loses a lot of its potential.

This add-on works exactly as advertised. However I assumed that my calendar items would be available when I am offline. They are not.

This add-on does not make Lightning/Google the same as Outlook/Exchange. If you are offline your calendar is GONE. If you check the "cache" box then when you are offline your calendar is read-only....ugh.

Bottom line, this add-on only allows you to use the Lightning GUI to edit your Google Calendar -- when you are online.
