The Calendar and New Event buttons work. I don't know about the others, I don't use the tasks so didn't check those. It's nice to have the New Event button and to remove the Tasks button. Thanks for this add-on.

You should not rely on Lightnings own locale strings. This leads to XUL errors for many users after upgrading to Thunderbird 68.*, when Ligntning is (maybe temporarily) disabled.

Have a look in this topic:
https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/addons/T5b15e51d21e1a3e8/is-there-a-manifest-key-for-require

And the XUL error by your add-on:

I can add the new calendar button on the main page email toolbar. But when I open Lightning calendar I cannot add 'Event', 'New Event', Task' or 'New Task' to the calendar's page toolbar. 'Event', 'New Event', Task' or 'New Task' are only applicable to the calendar page, but they are not available to add on the calendar's page toolbar.

Not working in TB 68.1 and 68.1.1

Buttons (like add as task) always disappear after application restart.

This should be coming built-in at some point; until then, it's strictly necessary for a better interface.

Does exactly what I hoped for, nice!

I would have really liked it if the icon styling would fit the rest of Thunderbird's black icons, rather than the colored ones that are added.

I really don't see why this add on needs another icon for adding a new event than the one there is already in the side bar for instance.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.3).

All toolbar buttons have been introduced into this add-on before similar buttons have been introduced into lightning. See them as a legacy ;)

I have no plans on changing the design of the buttons just because the thunderbird devs change their theme quite often. If you wish a consistent UI, you could install any theme bringing back the old thunderbird look and feel, as Ignore Aero, for instance.

If you want to adapt to the current theme, you may draw own button images and link them via userchrome.css. To do that, look into the chrome/skin folder within this extension (rename xpi to zip, then you should be able to browse its content), or contact me by mail and I can send you the css needed.

Makes the calendar really useable

Does not function under Thunderbird 11. If you have problem with Thunderbird 11 (you can't access your tabs anymore) deactivate this extension.

Edit: even with 1.5.3, the problem is the same. I've tested playing with the "autohide" option, nothing changed.
In fact, the toolbar is now in the tabs, and if it's OK for the mail tab, the lighting tabs (agenda and tasks) are not showing the buttons. So the tabs other than the one displayed become inaccessible.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2).

I assume you used the feature hiding the tabbar?
There was a issue, which is now fixed in 1.5.3. You can download it at https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/lightningbutton/versions/1.5.3

EDIT: Note that the no-tabs feature is NOT ment to be used without the Add-on Rise of the Tools or putting the buttons to a always-visible place (menubar).

Update + Reply March 26, 2012: Got it! Just goes to show how long I've been using Lightning without bothering to check on new button possibilities. Thanks for the tip! Welcome to the 5-Star Club!

Nearly almost perfect.
The only thing missing for me is a button for appointment searching - a feature which is only available via menu (i.e. not defined as a shortcut).

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2).

You can add such a button since Lightning 1.3 to the calendar-specific toolbar.

Very useful extension to get rid of those stupid icons on the tab bar (something Lightning should offer by in its preferences IMHO); however, there is one tiny bug. When you add these buttons now to the mail toolbar, they work without any issues, however, on my Mac, they don't get "highlighted" when you click them (usually, when you click a toolbar button and keep the mouse pressed, it is darkened until you release the button again; this works with all items except those provided by this extension).

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2).

I don't have nor use any mac computers, so I - of course - can't reproduce the issue. The issue might be related to the way the buttons should behave: they have a checked state, so the buttons stay pressed until you leave the calendar / click the button again to close the calendar. This is needed to provide better feedback when not displaying the tabbar.
Do you have the issue with the convert to event / task buttons as well? If not, I could disable the checked state thing on mac computers.
Please contact me via eMail, as the rating feature is not made for soving bugs.

When I add a reminder to an event, I want the reminder to appear "always on top" of everything else I've got open on the display. Can you do this?
The calendar seems to work well otherwise, with a few glitches.
One glitch was adding a repeating event, it added it 'times 3' and I couldn't get it to add only once. But did a workaround that is okay.
Do you want this kind of comment here, or do you have 'bug reports' somewhere?
Thanks for a really useful tool!!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.1).

I don't think that a change to the reminder to force it on top is a good thing for such an AddOn (as I'm not sure if it is possible - I think Lightning should implement it itself as I might break something when doing such a big UI change in another AddOn).
I can't reproduce the gitch you described - what exactly did you do? I tested adding a event repeating daily - and it added it to every day...
I prefer getting eMailed for bug reports, ideas and stuff and do only the reviewing here; you should see a support eMail adress on the AddOn's page. It would be great if you write me an eMail with steps how to reproduce the glitch, so I can answer more easy ;)

Would it be possible to add a button to add a category. Since we do not have a way to add a category on the fly, at least a button to quickly access the options window would be handy.

Version brings very useful buttons, but I'd be glad to get these buttons in message header toolbat also. Is it possible?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4).

I guess klint also contacted me. I am the author of CompactHeader. He suggests to add two buttons to convert the selected mail (in the message list pane) into a event/task, like it is done in the context menu. I implemented these two buttons and submitted a patch to lightning itself. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=575413

If this bug were not implemented you are very welcome to add the source code to your addon. On the other hand, you might try to get your buttons added to lightning itself. Your buttons should really be part of the lightning.

hi rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
So you're not only working on Songbird add-ons ;)
Say, would it be possible to add 2 new buttons, or maybe one at least:
- a button to convert a mail into a task
A second one could be there to convert a mail into an event, but I think the task one is more important.
Thanks

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.1).

I'm sorry, but I doesn't fully understand what you mean; How can a mail get converted into a task/event? Could you please write an eMail at the email in the contact box describing this? Is this feature already avaiable (and where), or a new feature? If it is a new feature, I think writing a new AddOn is better, if it is only a button thing, LightningButton is the correct place.
