autoHideStatusbar

Simply Awesome. The reality when browsing is that widescren = narrowscreen, and this extension is a big help in reclaiming space. Works wonders when combined with the Fission extension (you can configure it so hovered urls appear in the address bar).
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.4).StartupMaster

Great Extension, Probably Doesn't Do What You Think It Does.
This extension is not meant to lock down Firefox with a password. It is a workaround for a Firefox bug.
If you use Firefox's built-in Password Manager, you probably set a master password to protect your stored logins. But restoring a tab session can trigger a bunch of requests to unlock the password manager. This extension lets you unlock the password manager early so that you only get asked once. It's very handy for this purpose.

Widescreen displays may be great for movies, but they feel more like "narrow-screen" when viewing web pages. AHS lets you do away with with the largely-superflous status bar to save 22 precious vertical pixels.
The good: Saves vertical pixels for delicious page content to save your scrolling thumb. Firefox 3 puts security info in the location bar, making the statusbar lock icon superfluous.
The bad: Key combo hide/unhide (ctrl+shift+u) isn't very useful since the status bar re-hides itself if you move the mouse.
Other: The Fission extension is the perfect companion to AHS, putting a progress bar behind the location bar. It also provides the option (Preferences in the add-remove extensions dialog) to to change the location bar to moused-over urls and to show connection status on the right when loading a page. Install it and you may never un-hide the status bar again.
