I used to sometimes check and delete duplicate messages across different folders. But recent Thunderbird updates have removed the "select multiple folders" option, which has broken/limited the functionality of this useful tool. I hope the extension developers will raise this with Thunderbird developers.

Potentially great when re-creating/re-importing emails, but not working reliably on Thunderbird 115.4.3 on Windows 10. Intermittently crashes Thunderbird resulting in lost emails and corrupted mbox files. Would otherwise give 5 stars.

I just migrated from eM Client. All of my messages were duplicated upon import to Thunderbird. I downloaded this add-on for this reason. I had to work with the parameters, and make less demands on it, but it finally worked. All duplicates gone. Thanks!

確かに重複メッセージを削除できました｡ しかし､ 不具合も存在しました｡ 不具合がなければ満点でした｡
初期設定のままだと ほとんどの重複メールを削除しません｡ 重複メッセージだらけの場合でも検知しません｡ [重複メッセージはありません] と表示されるだけです｡ 設定を以下の通りに修正しなければいけません｡

[右クリック → 重複メッセージ検索用の設定] は無反応です。
[重複メッセージの削除] を押下しても無反応の時が有ります｡ 再起動すれば なおります｡
表示順番が Thunderbird と ことなります｡ 具体例として､ Thunderbird の日付順表示だと [じょうだん が未読､ 下段が既読] で表示されています｡ この時､ 検索結果画面で [下段のメッセージのみ保持] をせんたくすると､ 下段の既読メッセージのみ保持されなければいけません｡ しかし､ 実際には じょうだんの未読メッセージが保持されてしまいます｡

Clicked Remove duplicates. TB crashed. All my mails gone. Be very carefull when you try this addon.

Current version is broken. It claims to find duplicates, then hangs TB. Running latest Mac Ventura, TB 102.12.0, POP from gmail.

The May 6, 2023 update has absolutely broken the Remove Duplicate Messages add-on. It runs forever on a folder with just one or two dozen messages, none of them duplicate, and no longer reports "no duplicates found". So sad. It used to be a valuable tool.

It worked very well for me. After recovering my emails from a backup file, I had a lot of duplicate emails, this module saved me a lot of time and drastically reduced the number of emails. It is very easy to use.

It worked perfectly for me. I believe the people that it isn't working for haven't set the search properties correctly on the add-on. If the message has ever been moved on the source end, then the message ID will be different and not seen as a duplicate. Just uncheck message ID and check date& time, sender, receiver, subject, and body are the same, and check save the first message.

Wish I found it earlier, before deleting half of 97000 duplicates.
Couldn't work out why hard drive was full.
