I've used Nostalgy for years and can't do without it for productivity. Unfortunately, so many things keep breaking, and I know it's sometimes TB, not always Nostalgy, that I will move away if I can find something equivalent that is better supported.
The latest thing to break, and it may not even be Nostalgy, is that I can no longer Undo and Redo moving messages, which I used to be able to do from the Edit menu in TB (broken since when? Which TB or Nostalgy update? or did it just capriciously decide to stop working. Dunno - I'm on TB 115.10.1 on a Mac)

In response to your reply, I've edited this review to give it 5 stars. Nostalgy itself certainly deserves them. I had suspected that the issues are really with integration into Thunderbird as TB evolves.
I appreciate your volunteer efforts. Without them, I suppose we would have lost Nostalgy altogether. [What I really believe is that Nostalgy should be PART of TB; the capabilities that it provides are that important to user productivity.]
That is a good one.
Moving and copying is now done by the new webextention api, as transfer of addons to the new methods is generally requested, and it has been denied/delayed in developer meetings since 4 years ago to add the undo to the new api methods.
The reason is that they are planning something really good for that functionality but it needs so many changes that it did not happen yet due to manpower. And it has been denied to adapt a simple solution until then.
In another case, I have actually been asked to split an addon into two, one with those features only doable with the old legacy addon code, another with features that can be done with the new webextention approach (namely the addon attachment viewer). I found that strange and prone to loose users, so I didn't (want) to do that yet, so that addon is stuck at the current code.
The old copying/moving mechanism is still in the code of Nostalgy but started to be unreliable, so at the moment it is unused.
What breaks in Nostalgy, is broken by TB and its regular updates and moving to new code. That is, why understandably they request to move to the new webextention apis which do not break, but they have less feature, just as here: no undo.
If sponsored, one could imagine our own undo handling. It is not so easy when there are multiple TB's/smartphone/other email clients having access to the account, because messages cannot be uniquely identified in that case, at least if you have copies of a message in multiple folders (and we are talking about message move or copy by Nostalgy). ... That is a deficiency of imap, not TB's fault.
If you are interested in more details, just open an issue in github.
I would appreciate if you would not make it three stars only when it is not my fault.

This extension is crucial. It's a great great shortcut to managing email, letting me move emails to folders with a few keys rather than click type click type. Thanks!

best add-on ever, can't do any product work without it

Please update for everything Thunderbird have broken upstream! Why they're destroying their own app and community is beyond me!

Tremendous productivity booster - makes moving emails to folders SO much faster, through single-letter shortcuts or spelling out the (sub-)folder name.
This is on top of my wish list for new features in TB proper, also to save the sanity of opto: he's a hero fighting against continuous TB API changes, and it would make so much more sense to have upstream deal with a core feature such as this.

Is there a plan to update Nostalgy++ to Thunderbird 128? It would be sad if the plugin were not available anymore.
Anyway, thanks for the great plugin!

Life saving! I can't understand why TBird didn't think of this.
Every once in awhile, TBird does something naughty that keeps Nostalgy from working. The latest is that TBird assigns a bunch of ordinary keys (like S, C) to functions that I have no use for (S = toggle the star on a msg--I don't even show the star column). As it happens, another user (FS?) has a fix, which I repeat here (and thanks to him/her!!!):
--------
I solved my problem via the Thunderbird configuration editor and passing the following 2 parameters to False:
- accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled
- ui.key.textcontrol.prefer_native_key_bindings_over_builtin_shortcut_key_definitions

thanks a lot for this useful addon!
Also dark mode works for me, even if it is looking strange while configuring. Switching to light mode is done quickly to configure nostalgy++.
Main function of handling messages is there in v4.10 and working!
Thanks!

IMHO, the most useful feature of this extension is its ability to search for folders; I need this often.
But unfortunately, I can't use the extension because it can't be configured if TB runs in dark mode. There is a bug report about it, but it seems to be ignored (https://github.com/opto/nostalgy-xpi/issues/258).

This makes Thunderbird so much more usable and efficient. This add on is indispensable for me. Thank you!!!

If it helps, some on my side Thunderbird's built-in keyboard shortcuts sometimes (only sometimes??) take priority over Nostalgy shortcuts. For example "S: Add a star" instead of S: Save". I solved my problem via the Thunderbird configuration editor and passing the following 2 parameters to False:
- accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled
- ui.key.textcontrol.prefer_native_key_bindings_over_builtin_shortcut_key_definitions

This application is fantastic. It lets you organise your messages quickly, with 2 main shortcuts "s" and "g" and the ability to find folders with just a few characters typed. It is too bad that it is no longer supported for TB115. I will ne obliged to use a former version of TB until Nostalgy++ is back agin in the main branch.

Thunderbird is useless without this addon. Please upgrade to the last Thunderbird version 115!!! THANKS

I feel Thunderbird becomes almost useless without this add-on. There should be a warning when upgrading Thunderbird if this add-on isn't compatible. That way, we won't upgrade if Nostalgy++ is still behind.

As many have said already, this is a fantastic app. My system just updated to T115. Although the new version of Tbird looks and feels great, it broke the best piece... Nostalgy. My productivity suddenly dropped. I can't wait for Nostalgy to be ported... For those who have not, donate so the authors can manage to do the port to the new Tbird version.
[What alternatives are there in the meantime?]

One of the most important Add-on in Thunderbird. I use it every day since years and it became mandatory for my work to stay organized. Hopefully version 115+ is supported soon. In the meantime I am using crappy alternatives and waiting for the long awaited update!

Indispensable, cannot live without it for much longer! Makes filing mails a breeze. I have donated. When will this be updated to 115
