Funciona de maravilla y así desocupo espacio en mi barra de tareas y mando a trabajar en segundo plano a Thunderbird a Área de notificación.

Pues como la descripción estaba en inglés no comprendí muy bien como funcionaba, pero realmente es bueno porque funciona tal y como se menciona: minimiza la aplicación Thunderbird así se de clic en CERRAR. Efectivo pero probaré definitivamente minimizar el Thunderbird a la bandeja de notificaciones.
