Thunderbird Conversations
Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Excellent but for two things I find really, REALLY annoying.
In the Inbox, when messages are ordered by dates, the conversations appear ‘misplaced’.
For example, I have a conversation running for a month now. I received the initial email on October 26 but, I my inbox, although the most recent email was on November 26, it is still being shown as October 26 but as if that was not confusing enough, appears between November 6 and 10. How messy can it get? Try finding something... When I think about that conversation, it’s the most recent email that’s in my mind. Therefore, I feel it should be ordered according to that date. Also, in the conversations themselves, I would appreciate it if there was the option to change the order. In my inbox, I have my messages ordered with the most recent ones at the top. I’d like the option to do the same within conversations.
WARNING!: If you deactivate the module, your Inbox will not revert to its former state.
The changes made seem to be irreversible!
After disabling Conversations, the emails are still grouped per conversations but now I can only see the first two lines of each email in the preview pain. The only way to expand them is to double click on the thread in the Inbox and then Thunderbirds will automatically open every email in the thread in its own tab. What a mess with long conversations!
The only way I was able to get back to a proper Inbox was to shut down Thunderbird, find the email folder on my computer and delete it. Then restart Thunderbird and have it download the emails again. Lucky I am using IMAP.
WARNING! WARNING!: If you are using POP3 and do not keep copies on the server, I do not recommend installing that module because you’ll have no way of going back should you want to.
It has the potential to be excellent but it's not there yet. It needs to be FULLY reversible and get the dates right.
