Just discovered your add-on will nor function under FF33. It prevents the loading of pages in second and subsequent tabs. It may be that the script is being conflicted by either FF3 or by other add-ons that I use. I haven't got the time to spare to run it by itself in FF33. If you can't update it, maybe it would be better if you did withdraw it if it is going to do you reputational damage. Thanks for the effort while it lasted.

It is unfortunate that developer has no time to maintain this addon.
What is needed in addition to existing.
1. The list of shortcuts - it will grow with time and it will be difficult to keep in mind all shortcuts. So the context menuitem that can list all shortcuts will be useful.
2. Options as additional menuitem of shortcuts list - to be able to add new shortcuts not only via Addon Manager->Text Complete-Options

I love this plugin and use it every day. Really appreciate the version bumps to keep it working with FF updates! The existing functionality is plenty for me, very useful indeed.

Works perfectly with Thunderbird 9 !
Very useful to speed up answering, because it permits to replace a keyword into a long text. I use it for my sales contacts, to write standard/common text quickly.
You can download thunderbird 9 for linux from http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/9.0/linux-i686/it/thunderbird-9.0.tar.bz2

A suggestion for the author: you've written a very good and useful extension, but if now you've no time to support it, it's better that you open it to new developers. Thank you anyway.

Been a long time since I visited the mozilla site.

The extension has been open sourced since the beginning it's just a bit of javascript.

Anyone can unzip the extension and hack away as they please. When you click the download link you are downloading a zip file that just has a renamed file extension.

Thanks for the rating, glad you like the by now ancient extension.

I Really Love this add-on, i use it every day, for me it's (perfect compares to others).
i only noticed a small problem, (sometimes) when you save a text it doesn't save it and the text just disappears, but once you successfully saved your text it'll not disappear anymore... thank you very much Marcel Scherzer for this awesome add-on.
.
.
i forgot to mention that I'm currently using FF 9.0.1 and it's working perfectly for me, thanks.

This add-on does not work in Thunderbird 11+ and as the author states he will not update it should be removed (as per his own threat) as its pointless to stay.

Please, could you mail to Mozilla forum whether woudl somebody take over developement instead of you if you do not have time or energy?
Extenstion is great but does not work greet now. Homepage does not exist any more. Was not updated several years....

Basic functionality is OK but when you try to share source file to be able to use abbreviations on more machines and between Firefox and Thurdebird, it ends up with reseted file location to default file in profile folder.
Several times a week I have to reenter file location in Dropbox folder to see abreviations. I have to have several copies of file because TC sometimes reset that file when I changing (returning its proper) location. TC starts to be frustrating. Otherwise there is no Help for storing TC file on shared location, I must say that I have no clue how it should be entered not to end up with reseted file. I have no clue how ShortcutXML settings works. Could you post a guide? Please.

I thing I managed to wow Mozilla community to pay attention to extensions and their compatibility not to hold users on FF 3.6. But updating compatibility info is not enough.

I would consider donation whether there are other was than Paypal but now thinking about finding other solution because TC becames essential part of my work.

Good description and a perfect ad. But would anybody willing to update it, so it works with TB10.0.2, please?
I tried to change the shortcut (ctrl+alt+), I saved the message to drafts and reopened, I even sent it. But no autocompletition appeared.

(I have no clue how to send a reply to this thread, so here it goes:)
Dear Marcel, tell me, please, what would have been an appropriate message in this case. Your homepage does not work (to find your email, or a forum), the help page link is broken as well, and there is zero-service for a user that sees no change or action upon trying the triggers described above. I am glad I caught your attention, I am glad we communicate, I am sorry I pissed you off, and I am willing to delete the thread -- just tell me how should I have acted differently, please. Z

yeah thanks for the rating, don't think i could be bothered fixing anything for you mate.

Wo ist denn das Text-Complete-Feature?

Zitat: "The text complete extension adds shortcuts AND auto complete functionality to text fields ..."

Die Text-REPLACE-Funktion per ShortCut habe ich ja gefunden, aber von Text-Complete (Text-Vervollständigung) kann ich nichts sehen! Kann da bitte jemand was zu schreiben?

Ansonsten weiß jemand ein echtes Text-Complete-Add-on?

Guido.

Thank you very much for this helpful add-on. I daily use it very often. It's still better than quicktext.
Could you please make it compatible with Thunderbird 10? There it only works in messages with very few characters.

This extension saves me time and improves accuracy. I use it daily, and cannot imagine use Firefox without it.

Unlike others, the Ctrl+Alt+[key] technique works really well for me. I do agree with robwilkerson that if it can be added, it would be wonderful to be able to specify cursor location.

Thanks so much!

I use this add-on many times per day typically--very very useful. Thanks to the author for creating this.

I'm holding off on upgrading to TBird 5, hoping the author will release an update of this extension.

Hello,
Can you please add Thunderbird 5.0 support? i've upgraded 2 days ago and missing my great text complete add-on

Really enjoyed this add-on, but unfortunately my work computer has required an upgrade to FF4 so this add-on is no longer compatible. Would definitely like to see an update for this add-on and am quite disappointed that it isn't FF4 compatible already, since FF4 has been out for over a month now.

Firefox 4.0 is at the ready, so this add-on is urgently calling for an update.
Unfortunately now even the support website cfavatar.com redirects to another page...
Non-the-less it's a neat little tool and I like to use it.

Leider funktioniert das Addon nicht in Thunderbird 3.1.7
Die hinterlegte Supportseite (http://www.cfavatar.com/textComplete.cfm) ist nicht erreichbar (File not found)

I love this addon but I just found out it's not compatible with the new 3.1 TB :( Can you please fix an update?

Much thanks!
