this is a seemingly inconspicuous but very handy and comfortable extension.
@ErnieLane: you may wanna try the MR Tech Toolkit extension - it allows you to turn of the compatibility check when installing an extension. but beware! turning that check of for good may lead to an extension that is too olf for your current build of thunderbird to royally fç%*&g up your entire installation. so only do it sparsly and carefully.

this extension works like a charm. it does what its supposed to (btw to a few other reviewers here: if you dont want changing random signatures, then just dont use this extension. but dont complain about one existing that does that.)
i especially like the fact that prefix, suffix and random quotes fortune cookie files are separated, so that the fortune cookie file can also be used by different applications.
very. very. nice.
