Is there any chance for an updated version?
Combined with filtering it would be the most important extension I'm using.

Maybe a look into the source of Header Tools Lite https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/header-tools-lite/ could help to improve the extension, mostly to prevent the deletion of messages.

I'm willing to donate for a working tagging extension, who else is?

Would love to see similar add-on working in current Thunderbird version.

Is this extension abandoned? It would be great to get it updated to current Thunderbird versions.

Like Goldbugs mentioned, it seems to delete messages for me as well -- I don't see any errors, the message just goes away as soon as I enter the tag info. Specs: Windows XP, Thunderbird 2.0.0.19, mail stored on Courier IMAP server on Linux.

Sounds promising - but had the effect of deleting any message I tagged with an IMAP server error about "message contains bare newlines" !! Be careful.

I believe tag-the-bird could be the beginning of something beautiful. I have been putting tags in, but not really using them yet. One thing just hit me .. inheritance. When I reply to a note I have put tags in I want the reply to carry the tags. Maybe not the actually sent reply, but the one residing in my "Sent" mailbox.

I want to believe!
It would be nice if when selecting known tags, that typing in a new tag could cause the new tag to be instantiated.
cheers!

Tagging is a better organisational paradigm than hierarchical folders alone - most people recognise that now. This extension provides that for TB, and as such is useful.

The disadvantage of tagging is that, in its present incarnations, it's a bit laborious, having to manually apply the tags all the time. Automation is the key. Thus, this extension desperately needs the ability to use the existing filter system to automatically tag incoming emails. E.g. for all email from fellow employee "JohnG", perform the action --> tag with: "john.g" "primatech.paper" and thunderbird's "to do" flag. I could then add a couple of additional subject-matter tags and then archive it in half the time.

Still, good so far.

Great extension. Adds (or enhances, depending on how you look at it) a much needed feature to TB. My one significant pet peeve is that I have to disable Mnenhy (and, accordingly, my custom header display) to have this show up. Still this doesn't lessen my enjoyment of this extension, good job!

This extension consistently caused immediate disappearance, deletion I assume, of messages I tried to tag. Experienced with Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 on Ubuntu Gutsy Linux, using IMAP server "IMAP4rev1 2004.357". (wu-imapd?).

Works fine but consumes much of CPU Time and Memory. Thunderbird is not reacting for sometimes 10 Seconds when I click on HTML-Messages with embedded images. Memory consumtion then raises from 30 MB to 120 MB!

The tagging destroys the message when used on Linux. Windows does work ok.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).
