Extension List Dumper 2

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Please fix?

Temporary fix is to toggle the about:config entry
extensions.allow-non-mpc-extensions to 'true'
This will eventually fail, though, as multiprocess advances.

The extension is also marked as "Legacy", that is, not a web-extension, thus will not survive FF 57 in November unless re-written. This is a dark tragedy.

Extension List Dumper 2

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very good, very useful.

I would like to see also the URL of the addons.mozilla.org/..
since sometimes addons are not indexed well by AMO
and are difficult to find for a new install.

Why not no-restart?

Should you remove the other two versions that do not work?

Listing individual addon options would be good, but perhaps too much work.

All one needs after this is the list of config changes, and the interface menu "customise". But perhaps too much work.

Thanks.

Thank you for your efforts over recent years.

Quick Locale Switcher

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent once again!

This rather strange problem was resolved by the simple expedient of setting QLS preference
"Reload the current ..... after switching" to No.
My thanks to author Martijn (Captain Caveman) for a prompt response.
I leave a partial record of the problem for archive:

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Has been excellent.
However, a warning for those moving to FF 15.0 : I have experienced some truly bizarre behaviour, where pages (like gmail.com & yandex.ru & even the AMO) keep cyclically re-rendering & re-rendering, sometimes blank, sometimes without CSS, and won't be stopped.
== SOLUTION: if the AMO (Add-ons Mozilla) page quiets down enough,
== change the QLS preference "Reload the current ..... after switching" to No.

All of which seemed to be related to QLS, so I removed it, which left all the main FF interfaces speaking Russian at me.
== The change to Русский язык remains mystery, but may well not be related to QLS.
== The solution is to go FFox Edit> Prefs > Content > Languages > Choose >
== highlight your preferred lingo & [Move up] to top language.

British English Dictionary

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Mostly, it's a real pain to have to reboot to get the thing to work.

Also, it's very annoying that the langage defaults to Americsn in my Linux editions.

That is compunded by the fact that other versions of English are not included in the American locale box (at the top) as options. One has to go to all the trouble of searching for them in the full "others" list, when one is initially unsure whether they would be listed under country name (locale).

Would it be possible to have a "use Linux(o/s) disctionaries instead" option?

Image Zoom

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Annoyingly, the centre of the zoom is at the corner rather than the cursor position, so you lose the part of the image you are focussed on.
Then you have to use the scroll bars, rather than a 'grab' cursor.
Does what it says, zooms (some) images, does not zoom text etc., does not zoom flash.
Sad.

So. it works, but it's a pain to use.
I'm looking elsewhere.

Babylon

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Scumware. Don't go there.
Says "Babylon dictionaries and Wikipedia via the Web. "

In fact his thing thinks it owns your browser, installs a stinking heap of immovable, noisy, superfluous carpware for you to track down & uninstall, and nags you for quantities of cash.
Given the liberties it takes, I wouldn't trust it with any payment details.

Babylon dictionaries themselves are advertised as free, but, as lexicographers, they seem to have some problems with the definition of 'free'. Sadly not uncommon nowadays.
I wonder if the oren wisman has a commercial license with Babylon Dictionaries?

And all I wanted a simple translation utility.
Pity.

Please send loving thoughts to the insane worm.
He clearly needs them.

Tab Counter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great ! 10/10 ~almost~

( but for the documentation. )

A few minor points & wish-list:

1) I like the way you get to options by
RtClik on the tab count itself,
Like Michael_Corvin/ dypsis, I recommend

Options>Format_string: %c/%n

which gives me, for example: 20/42
(I'm in the 20th tab of a total of 42.)

2) I click on th tab count, get options. fine.
You say "click on labels for CSS info".
But if you do, it takes you off to CSS
documentation. Rather alarming, and too techie
for the average joe. And haven't the time.
Cascading Style Sheets. Fascinating. Later.

Much better to give some nice examples in a
Help text.

(Try to remember, not everyone is as
intelligent as you! Or me, even.)

3) ...and if you click on the label 'Format_String'
it very strange. Hovering over this label works,
but that isn't what you say, is it?

3) PLEASE sort out the tags in the add-ons file.
When I search for 'Tab Counter', I only get
TabCounter by filipc, which does not work. Not for me, anyway (ff 3.5 in vista2). Time was te.

So people have to dig further to find it, &
sadly may never get here.

4) When I Tools>Extensions, select Tab Counter &
RtClk, the 'Home page' is greyed out.
No help there, then.

5) PLEASE, please, put some clear examples of format
strings in some easily found Help text.
Put a link in the Options panel, maybe.

6) I would really like to have some indication on the tab itself, of the number of pages that have
been overlaid.

Countless times, I have deleted a tab, only to
realize later that the page I wanted was overlaid
beneath it. Countless times.

The standard feature of bringing up a selectable
list when you Rt-click on the back-arrow is
rather nice, but has to be done on a by-page
basis, and is easily missed.

(is %n the number of tabs, or the number of
actual pages, some hidden?
Something useful to know.)

Thanks to all those who reviewed before, without whom I would probably not have seen all the excellent features on this neat add-on.
