About this Add-on
Caution: If you are NOT affiliated with the Technische Universität Dresden, you won't benefit from using this Add-on.
Please refrain from reporting advertising and spam mails that pose no potential security risk. As a rule of thumb, mails from unknown senders with questionable urgent requests for action (e.g. "click here to unlock your account") are worth reporting.
Documentation and reporting plugins for other e-mail clients are available at mailsecurity.cert.tu-dresden.de.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does this Add-on need full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird, and your computer?
A: Behind the scenes, this Add-on sends reported e-mails as attachments to TUD-CERT. This is currently only possible using legacy Thunderbird APIs that (in theory) provide full access to the local computer. We will drop that dependency as soon as the newer MailExtensions API supports our use case. For more information, consult the Mozilla Knowledge Base.
