>>Fix for TB 60 here (not mine, thx to hb9tst and despecial ):

download and install manually in Add-on Manager. Worked for me.<<
This fix works great in TBird 60.0 (32 bit), which I run on Windows 7 PRO (64 bit SP1).
Thanks for the tip, and the author's hard work.

>>@Harry Yes, I simply installed an older version of Thunderbird overwriting the newer one, then after sorting the folders, I updated it to v 60b11 (current) again. This works with portable Thunderbird also. I have two separate groups of mail accounts, one in portable TBird, the other installed. since TBird allows only one (open) instance, profile conflicts aren't a problem. (Unlike Firefox, which will corrupt your user profile if you forget to close one.)<<
Interesting!. I just copied the profile from 56, which is on my laptop, to 60, which is on my desktop. I got the accounts sorted correctly, but not the folders within the accounts, including within Local Folders.
You said not to have two versions of Thunderbird open at one time. Is that a problem even if they are on two different computers? I have had both of mine open at the same time frequently.

>>Reverting Thunderbird to v56.0, sorting the folders -- then updating Thunderbird -- is a work-around, until the add-on gets fixed.<<
I am new to Thunderbird, so 60,0 is my 1st version, and I don't know where the add-on information is stored. How did you do the revert action? Did you just install 56 over 60, make the changes and then reinstall 60, or did you install 56 in a different directory, move the 60 profile there, make the changes on that 60 profile, and then move the updated profile back to 60?
I use the profile moving when I install a new version of Firefox or Pale Moon browser, and want the new version to have the same features as the old one.

Unlike RobertJ, I could not get either of his posted solutions to work. Neither the "extensions.strictCompatibility'"or the change to" <em:maxVersion>60.0".
I am running Windows 7 Pro (64bit) SP1, and Thunderbird 60.0 (32 bit).
