I am very pleased with GoodSearch. It does not exclude sites that someone thinks are not good for political and other reasons and I find it pretty competitive.

I have used GoodSearch and Good Shop for years. but all of a sudden I am not logged in when I go to that web page, and I am unable to log in!

I love that I can generate funds for my non profit just by doing all the things I already do, searching and buying. I liked previous versions better when you could track the amount earned personally and for the organization.

My IP address gets blocked and you have to keep writing them to unblock it. Last time it was blocked for 5 days. When they finally unblocked it, I opened and read 5 national newspapers online and was blocked again. It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm still blocked. I've asked 5 times to unblock my IP address and they still haven't done it. I'm done with this organization. Used to buy online merchandise through this organization but stopped because they are difficult to work with. Have since been using MyPoints. I get points for all my searches and purchases I make, and then turn the points into gift cards. I've never have had a problem with them and have used them for years. They are now my primary search engine. They don't give to charities, but if I get a $50 gift card to a store, that I normally will buy from anyhow, I feel I can give $50 to the charity. I might even consider buying a gift card and giving it to them to use. I support a local animal rescue group so they can always use pet food, beds, etc.

Nice to be able to contribute painlessly to a good cause, but you have to make sure you declare your charity (there are thousands listed). Still, if you don't declare, the money goes to fund their operations (which makes it possible for others to continue contributing to your charity, too), which is not a bad thing. However, make a mental note that if you come up with NOTHING (or next to nothing) for search results, which is often the case for obscure references (like family names, movie dialog snippets, or song lyrics), you may have to bail out and google it. Just remember to go back and put Goodsearch back as your default search engine. Most of the time, the results are adequate; but hey, you don't expect organic griddle cakes from scratch at a pancake breakfast fundraiser, do you?

A couple of years ago I was looking at a particular charity's website and found GoodSearch. I thought it was a great idea, so I installed it and tried to use it as much as possible, thinking I was helping them out. But when I got a new computer, with a different operating system, I discovered I'd have to reinstall GoodSearch, and finding out how to do that *with the link to my charity* was really hard. Plus, I discovered on GoodSearch's site that if you don't enable cookies for all their advertisers your donation won't go to your charity - and since I had Firefox set to delete cookies at the end of each session, it's doubtful that any of the money from my searches actually went to the charity. That's really disappointing. And if they can't figure out who your charity is, or if you don't pick one (as another reviewer here said), they use the money for their own operating costs. That's probably where the money from my searches was going. So I either have to enable lots of advertiser cookies - the list on the GoodSearch page had 15 of them - or find another way to support that charity. I'm opting to find another way. This system just doesn't work very well.

I really like using this addon package, it was easy to you and everything but it never presented me an option of what charity I wanted to allocate my searches to which made me sad.

This is an excellent search engine that raises money for various charities when using it to do internet searches. Every "good search" raises money to go to the charity of your choice. A similar search engine that helps any charity you choose with every internet search is: http://isearch.igive.com. I use both of them. Why not help out a charity while you search the internet!

I tried this engine & it worked fine, but I uninstalled it because I just can't stand yahoo searches. If there was a Google-powered version I would use it exclusively. And I suspect this is true for many other avid searchers out there.

I support GoodSearch and use it frequently, but I will never install a FF addon unless I know what it does.

What does this addon... ...*do*?
