Great job! Works fine with Thunderbird 140 ESR and 148!
But I have one request: I’m using a 28-inch 4K monitor. The Quicktext Manager appears very small on it. A larger display or an adjustable setting would be great.

Great add-on. I have been using it every day for a long time.
After last update Thunderbird (to version 148) Quicktext version from Thunderbirds official site don't work. I instal beta version from github, but as wrote yotaka - Mar. 12, 2026:
"Previously, the template menu was aligned horizontally below the subject line in the email composition window, but it suddenly disappeared.
Now, there's only a lightning bolt icon in the toolbar."
Previously, the template menu had better location. Please restore it.
Please do not use the review system of the official version (which works fine with current Thunderbird 140 ESR), to comment on the Beta version, which you got elsewhere. Instead, check the Repository where you got the Beta from for help.

You manually installed a beta version from my GitHub page. You are now on v6.5.3 (probably, you can check in the details of the Quicktext add-on in the add-on manager). The last "official" version from here (ATN) is 6.4.
Please keep discussions about Beta versions out of the ATN review process, and instead go to my GitHub page, where you find this:

Question for Smex.
Following your advice, I followed all the instructions to change the 6.4 plugin and install it in Thunderbird 147.0.1. Unfortunately, as Manuel wrote, when manually installing the changed plugin with the number changed to "147" or "148," a message appears saying that the add-on cannot be installed because it appears corrupted.
I debugged the error with the Thunderbird tool and received the following message:
An error occurred during the temporary installation of the add-on.
Error Information
File C:\Users\quicktext-6.4-tb.xpi does not contain a valid manifest
This means that everything was probably done correctly, as you wrote, but Thunderbird currently doesn't accept the changed file.
I've repeatedly checked the entry in the changed "strict_max_version" line: "147.*," and everything looks identical to the original after changing the number. Do you have any idea what this might be about...?

you can update to the latest version quite easy. download the addon, rename it to zip, extract it, change in manifest json, change it to "strict_max_version": "149.*" . save it, pack it as zip, rename it to xpi and install manually. this is a temporary workaround until the new version is out.

Hello,
I have two suggestions for improvement.
One is if you click on the lightning bolt in a message and then you choose settings and then you close the settings and then you click on the lightning bolt again the menu including all previous templates that already exist disappears. Now they don't really disappear as when you reopen the message they appear again but there seems to be some bug when you open it close it the settings window and then try to activate it again what does work is to click in the upper part of the small rectangle that opens for some reason that seems to be the area where the settings are.
The other thing is it would be really helpful to have an HTML display when you say you want to insert it as HTML that you can actually see it as HTML so you can correct problems quickly basically a preview obviously the next step would just be a what you see is what you get editor.

This is an updated review/question. What is the latest version of Thunderbird that users are successfully installing Quicktext 6.4.7 November 15, 2025 on (Windows)? I am currently running 143.01. Downgrading to 140.6.0esr has its' own set of problems. The last time that I did a Thunderbird downgrade, I was fortunate to have backups of my profile to restore from. Thanks!
